{"id":5091,"date":"2026-09-03T07:56:25","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T07:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fluidect.com\/?p=5091"},"modified":"2026-09-03T08:05:38","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T08:05:38","slug":"five-years-of-fluidect-%f0%9f%8e%89","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fluidect.com\/en\/five-years-of-fluidect-%f0%9f%8e%89","title":{"rendered":"Five years of FluIDect! \ud83c\udf89"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Almost exactly five years ago, in a garage in B\u00fcrgel, Dr. Michael Himmelhaus and Dr. Tobias Schr\u00f6ter conducted the first experiment to optically read out freely moving microscopic sensor particles in a single measurement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our journey began with a fundamental challenge: unlike temperature, critical biological parameters such as protein and microorganism concentrations are difficult to measure during a running process. Today, our ambition goes beyond closing this measurement gap. With biosensing and measurement technology at our core, we aim to turn biological data into actionable process intelligence\u2014helping customers understand, optimize, and ultimately control their bioprocesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, FluIDect is a team of 21 colleagues from eight nations, combining expertise in biotechnology, photonics, fluidics, engineering, and software. We now have 250 m\u00b2 of laboratory space plus dedicated offices and have turned our technology into our first products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some milestones from our journey: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 March 2022: We moved into our first office at the Technologie- und Innovationspark Jena and welcomed our first employee, Dr. Sarah Hofbrucker MacKenzie. We are delighted that she remains an important part of FluIDect today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 November 2023: We presented our first product, the SpheroScan\u00ae Explorer, at MEDICA in D\u00fcsseldorf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 Summer 2024: We moved into the BioInstrumente-Zentrum in Jena, where our facilities include biosafety level 2 laboratories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the SpheroScan\u00ae Explorer is being used in customer projects across food production, the water industry, and fermentation. By bringing advanced protein and microorganism detection closer to the production process, our technology helps customers obtain results faster, identify changes earlier, develop a deeper understanding of their processes, and make better-informed decisions. The next major milestone is already within reach: we are preparing our fully automated SpheroScan\u00ae Guard for its first field trials. Building a deep-tech company is rarely a linear journey. Plans evolve, challenges lead to new solutions, and every iteration moves the technology forward. That makes us even more proud and grateful to be where we are today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Above all, FluIDect is built by its people.
